Photoprotective action, antioxidant activity, and toxicity of aqueous extracts of Campomanesia sessiliflora O. Berg

Campomanesia sessiliflora O. Berg is a medicinal plant that object of very few studies in the literature. In this context, antioxidant activity, sun protection factor (SPF) and toxicity Artemia salina Leachs were analysed, as well contents phenolic compounds, flavonoids tannins aqueous extracts prepared by infusion maceration C. leaves. Maceration showed higher levels compounds regarding two samples had same tannin content. The LD50 was similar for extracts, both considered low test with A. salina. Infusion presented SPF 9.98, while 6.74. better secondary metabolites activity SPF. have potential incorporation into multifunctional products.
